Christy is the team lead and the longest serving team member, having joined the Clinic in 2011 as an Animal Health Technologist. Growing up in rural Alberta on a family run farm, she always knew her heart lay in animal care and she graduated from Olds College Animal Health Technology program in 2001. Over the following years Christy worked at a variety of veterinary clinics around Alberta and also taught Animal Health Technology at both Fairview College and Olds College for a period of six years, which was a time in her career that she found hugely enjoyable and rewarding. However the love of working directly with animals called her back to veterinary practice and Signal Hill Animal Clinic became her working home.
When she is not at the clinic, Christy enjoys spending her time exploring the wonderful province of Alberta, cooking, reading and, as she jokingly says, recovering from the many little injuries she picks up from patients over the course of a typical day at work!
Christy is the proud owner of two adorable cats, Meg and Sarah, who miraculously survived the 2013 flooding in High River and she loves nothing more than cuddling with them after a long shift at work.
Melissa hails from Saskatchewan and joined the staff at Signal Hill Animal Clinic in the summer of 2014. An accomplished veterinary technician, Melissa graduated from the University of Alberta in 2008 with a Bachelors of Biological Science with a specialization in Animal Biology. Subsequently, in 2011, she graduated from NAIT with Honours from their Animal Health Technician Program.
Melissa has a natural affinity for emergency veterinary care and she perfected her skills while working as a Triage and ICU technician at the CARE Centre in Calgary for two years before joining the team at Signal Hill Animal Clinic.
Despite her calm and professional manner in any veterinary emergency situation, Melissa is also known for her wonderful sense of humor and her infectious laugh brightens every working day.
In her spare time Melissa enjoys reading, hiking in the mountains and lane swimming and she loves spending time with litter mates Nicholas and Charlotte, her two very beautiful kitties.
Brittany is the newest member of the Signal Hill Animal Clinic team having joined the staff in 2015 as an Animal Health Technician. It did not take her long to settle in and she quickly became a vital link in the successful day to day operation of the clinic.
Brittany is originally from Ontario where she attended Veterinary Technician School at St. Clair College in the province and she graduated from there in 2014.
Shortly after graduation Brittany moved to live in Alberta and took up her first role in Calgary at the Calgary North Veterinary Hospital as an Animal Technician. She continued working at the hospital until she moved to Signal Hill Animal Hospital as a popular member of the staff.
In her leisure time Brittany enjoys nothing more than a getting out to enjoy the freedom of the mountains before coming home to spend time with her beloved cat Penny.
