How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture works the same in animals and humans. The veterinary acupuncturist will perform a comprehensive assessment of your pet’s condition and then create a customized treatment plan. Tiny needles will be inserted into specific points to promote blood circulation and stimulate the nervous system. The treatment will relax your pet’s muscles and stimulate the release of naturally occurring anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving substances. The needles don’t cause discomfort, so your pet won’t need any sedation or anesthesia. If your pet is sensitive to needles, acupressure can be used as an alternative treatment. Acupressure uses the fingers/hands to stimulate the treatment area, especially if they are hard to reach.

How many sessions will my pet need?
